Arc fee stress test

Unofficial demo of @arc, Circle's stablecoin L1. Not affiliated. The smoothing constants are illustrative; the rest is from the docs.

Hammer the network. Watch the fee.

Every click dumps a burst of transactions on two chains at once. One reprices its base fee block by block in a volatile gas token. Arc reprices on a smoothed average and charges in USDC. Same traffic, same gas per transfer. Watch what you'd actually pay.

Standard EIP-1559 chain

Base fee moves up to 12.5% every block. Gas priced in a token that moves too.

Why it moves differently

Three things set what you pay: gas units, base fee per unit, and the price of the token you pay it in. Arc changes the last two.

Standard chain: react to the last block only

EIP-1559 looks at one number, how full the previous block was, and moves the base fee up to 12.5% in either direction. Ten full blocks in a row is a 3.2× fee. Twenty is 10×.

next fee = fee × (1 + 0.125 × (last block fullness − 50%) / 50%)

Then you multiply by whatever the gas token trades at that minute. Two sources of volatility, stacked.

Arc: react to a weighted average, in dollars

Arc keeps the EIP-1559 shape but feeds it an exponentially weighted moving average of recent block utilization. Old blocks fade, one hot block barely registers, and the fee drifts back once traffic normalizes. The docs set a 20 gwei floor and a 20,000 gwei ceiling.

avg = α × this block + (1 − α) × avg
next fee = fee × (1 + k × (avg − target) / target), clamped

The gas unit is USDC, so the second multiplier is always one dollar. Sub-second finality also clears backlogs before they compound. This demo uses α = 0.10 and k = 2% per block, which are illustrative until Circle publishes the constants.

Who runs the validators

Circle plus eleven institutions. This is proof of authority, not open staking. That is the trade Arc is making on purpose, and it is the thing crypto natives will argue about most.

Ready on day one

Uniswap, Aave, Morpho, Aerodrome and market makers including Galaxy, GSR, Keyrock and FalconX. Wallets and access through MetaMask, Ledger, Fireblocks, Binance Wallet, Kraken and Upbit. BlackRock's BUIDL fund deploys natively. DTCC tokenization is slated for the second half of 2027.

Bridging uses Circle's CCTP: your USDC is burned on the source chain and minted as native USDC on Arc. No wrapped IOU, and the same USDC pays your gas.

Before you ape

Launch weeks are scam weeks. Three facts that will save someone's wallet.

There is no public ARC token yet and no airdrop has been announced.

  • The ARC token was presold to institutions in May 2026: $222M raised at a $3B fully diluted valuation, led by a16z with BlackRock, Apollo and ICE. Supply is 10B, with 60% to the ecosystem, 25% to Circle, 15% in reserve.
  • Circle has published no airdrop, no eligibility rules and no claim page. Any site asking you to connect a wallet to "check eligibility" is farming approvals.
  • Gas is USDC. Anything selling you a "gas token" for Arc is selling you nothing.
